Beyond the Sea

A fiery glow illustrates the faces of men
Pouring into the darkness adjacent to them
A fragrance of fish mixes with the salty wet air
Bodies Gather close anxiously awaiting their share
Courageously pushing forward though hopes run dry
Seeking divine guidance from the starlit sky
Losing the will to live but none hope to die
Stubbornly surviving on the dissipating supplies
Dry tears stain strained eyes with pain
Sprit numb like heavily over dosing Novocain
Trying not to go insane as the night drags on
Storm clouds rage above, the stars are gone
The wind ravages the sails with barbaric force
Sending the doomed vessel with uncontrollably off course
Bodies lie helplessly strewn across the deck
Hopelessly awaiting the imminent shipwreck

To find that their ship had been torn and shaken
Floorboards breakin the sails ripped to shreds their entire bodies achin
It soon became unmistakably clear
Land was in sight the storm was gone along with their fears
Jubilant shouts rang in the air
Met with hearty embraces and exuberant tears
The intrepid voyage had finally come to a close
As the sight of white beaches and palm trees arose
Awestruck by the countryside the crew stopped and froze
Captivated as the north wind started to blow
Carrying them to land the crew rushed to their stations
Forget patience getting home was their only fixation
Finding peace knowing that they are finally free
To return to their lives beyond the sea

On My Way:

(all Dan) Stranded on an island a thousand miles from home
no other sign of life in this place, i'm all alone
palm trees sway in the black of night
it's been twenty-six days since that fateful flight
when my entire universe was turned upside-down
on a plane that was destined to hit the ground
as it turned into a ball of fire over the sea
jumping was the only option left for me
as i hit the water with bood curdling force
analyzing my course, mind full of remorse wondering
if this would be the day that i'd die
lost amongst the waves under a thunderous sky
body freezing, my teeth clench with pain
as i struggle for life beneath relentless rain
when eternal darkness finally turned to light
i awakened my senses and gathered my might.

With limbs stiff and numb from the cold
i continued on remembering what i'd been told:
to carry on even in the darkest of days -
let my heart guide me through the ambiguous haze
i reached the shore of an unfamiliar land
collapsing, i fell into the sun-baked sand
the solar rays brought my body back to life
started thinking about my family, my kids and wife
it's been two years now since i've seen their faces
since i joined the ranks traversing bases
Berlin, Paris, Moscow and Rome -
and now the only place i want to be is home
but if i want to survive this disastrous mission
i'll need a plan, need to use my intuition
as darkness overcomes the last light off day
i know that soon, i'll be on my way.
